5 OUTDOOR PRIVACY SCREEN IDEAS

Looking for inspiration for your outdoor privacy screen?

Here are five ways to create more privacy in your outdoor space, either with a standalone privacy screen or a fence screen from LOVE STORY.

1. Close In an Above-Ground Pool

Want a quick way to make your above-ground pool private without having to build a privacy screen? Simply take a privacy fence screen and wrap it around posts attached to your pool. You'll want a screen that's durable and waterproof so it won't be damaged when you splash around in the pool.

2. Finish a Basketball Court or Driveway

To create more privacy for your basketball court - and to keep the ball from flying into your neighbor's yard - add a tall privacy screen and fence. This type of privacy structure is best for recreational areas because it's durable. A wood lattice frame or a garden wall wouldn't be good for a basketball court - functionally or aesthetically.

3. Cover up a Slatted Fence with a Fence Privacy Screen

If you already have a slatted or wrought-iron fence, you can add charm and privacy to your outdoor space by adding a privacy screen to it. Turn a drab garden or patio into a relaxing oasis by placing colorful potted flowers and planters.

4. Make a Natural Privacy Screen

If you want to keep your outdoor area as natural as possible, why not install a plant wall as a privacy screen? Hang small potted plants on a lattice frame, or cover a trellis in ivy, then position it at the edge of your patio or terrace.

5. Hang Outdoor Curtains

Curtains are an elegant way to keep your deck or patio private. They're also versatile - keep them open when you want to see the rest of your garden, or close them when you're gathered on the deck with friends and want some privacy. Outdoor curtains are also easy to install, but they work best for spaces that have a roof (covered decks, patios, etc.).

This privacy screen was exactly what we were looking for to resolve fence aggression between our dog and the neighbors dogs. We recently installed a fence in our back yard and conjoined fencing on one side with neighbors who have 4 dogs. Whenever all the dogs were outside at the same time, the dogs would all run to the fence barking and sometimes pulling at the fence. Once we installed this privacy screen, the dogs could no longer see each other and were much easier to redirect. We chose black because our fencing and mulch is black and it makes a lovely backdrop for landscaping. We are extremely happy with our purchase.

CLand,

Got this to hang on our fence and stop the neighbors dog from constantly barking while we are outside. It does the job intended, it is still see through to us but I guess is distracting enough to shut the dogs up. Overall, we are getting more to finish out each side of the yards fence.

Erin stuckey,

Very easy to install. Worked in keeping the dogs from barking quite so much from seeing the next door neighbor dogs.

Rosies,

I ordered the black version and I am very pleased with it. Now the next door neighbor’s dog doesn’t freak out as much when I’m in my own backyard.

Chris M.,

Very durable, very easy to install! I feel a little more at ease about allowing my children play outside when the gate isn’t see through and am extremely excited about all of the trash from my neighborhood that will no longer end up in my backyard because it slips through the gate bars.

M S,

This is an amazing product! So much cheaper than privacy slats and to me, looks the same! My dogs cant see out, and my neighbors are happy to not hear my dogs anymore. Thank you! Will definitely be reordering for the rest of my fence!

Lexy Hampton,

We got this cover to have our dogs not pay attention to our neighbor’s pit bull. We put our fence 6 feet from the property line. But once the pit saw our pups he was trying to dig out of his fence that scared our pups. So we got this to blind both sets of dogs from seeing each other. Our dogs finally go all around the fenced-in area. This product is sturdy, well made. It is everything and more on the description.

Kimberly Tarquinio,

We used this to cover our chainlink fence for privacy on the backside and leftside of our yard. It serves our needs for privacy perfectly – we cannot see anyone walking by our fence now – and they cannot see us chilling in our backyard. Have had some inclement weather since installation and, yes, the wind blows it a bit but it has held up strongly.

SandyEm,

I invested about 2 hours putting it up and I’m very happy so far
Joseph Brzezinski,

Exactly what I needed! I needed something not too expensive and I needed it now. I have a 4 ft. chain link fence so no one wanders into the canal behind my house but because my back yard lines up with the end of the street across the water, everyone stops and stares constantly. I mean CONSTANTLY. It doesn’t matter that it’s my backyard or that my young daughters are swinging and playing there, they sit in their cars and stare at us and through to the other side. I ordered more but haven’t needed them yet. My husband put it up in no time. So far it’s been AMAZING! You can see just a little through it not enough to make a difference, it’s sturdy and we just had a tropical storm with wind gusts up to 70 mph and the fence bowed only a tiny bit, would’ve anyway, and all the cable ties held and no fraying or any issues. I’ve had it up for about a month and now people are driving on by instead of staring. Definitely worth it! Totally worth the money and if you want to take it down just clip the ties.

AD,

This is a nice quick way to add a little privacy. We bought this to keep our dogs from seeing and barking at the neighbors. Since one can still see a little through the screen, it did not totally eliminate the barking but reduced it. We were fortunate in that the length, or end, of the screen lined up with a post.
